EilatLocated at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba (part of the Red Sea), Eilat is the southernmost city in Israel. As of 2006, the city had an estimated population of 55,000. The weather in Eilat tends to be very hot and dry, because the area is surrounded by desert, and temperatures above 40°C (104°F) are not unusual in the Summer. However, the landscape is beautiful, the Red Sea is comfortable to swim in, and there are many species of marine life, and as a result, Eilat is a popular destination for tourists.
